“Ra.One” is one of the most expected projects in the Indian Cinema. The Story and written and directed by Anubhav Sinha. It is produced by Gauri Khan under the banners Eros International Ltd and Red Chillies Entertainment. This features Shahrukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Shahana Goswami and many others.
The Screenplay of “Ra.One” is by Anubhav Sinha, Kanika Dhillon, Mushtaq Sheikh, and David Benullo. The Music is scored by Vishal-Shekhar. The Audio was recorded during 2010–2011 at the YRF Studios, Mumbai and Smecky Music Studios, Prague. The “Ra.One” Audio is available in 3 languages namely Hindi, Telugu and Tamil. The Audio is released under the label T-Series. The Audio is produced by Vishal-Shekhar, Abhijit Nalani, Abhijit Vaghani, Giorgio Tuinfort, and John Stewart.
“Ra.One” has been creating huge buzz from the day, it was announced. Normally, Shah Rukh Khan’s films have huge expectations. That too, this project has exceeded all the limits.
As this is touted to be one of the biggest projects in Bollywood, the expectations are monstrous. Shah Rukh Khan is returning back to the big screen after a gap of more than 1 and ½ years. Vishal & Shekhar are famous for giving special Music, that too, when it is the case of biggies, they rock to the core. As the project is extra special, the Music is also special.
Ra.One has 10 unique tracks, with five remixes. The album started with the Song “Chammak Challo”. This was leaked a few months ago and from then, it has been receiving huge attention. Akon was invited and brought into the Bollywood through this Project. “Chammak Challo” is an astonishing blend of Indian, Middle East and Western sound, which gives it a unique appeal. This is written by Vishal Dadlani and Niranjan Iyengar. Apart from Akon, this song features the voice of Hamsika Iyer also. Even the visuals of this track have come out very well.
“Chammak Challo” is featured in five Remix versions like “regular Remix”, “Punjabi mix”, “Club Mix” and the “International version” (in which Akon records solo). The more we hear, the more it attracts us and makes us to hear repeatedly. This is so good that, this “Chammak Challo” would feature as a regular number in all the international tours of Akon.
Then, follows the Song “Dildaara - Stand By Me”. This is written by Kumaar, which is like a serious melody. It is sung by Shafqat Amanat Ali, with support from Vishal Dadlani, Shekhar Ravjiani and Clinton Cerejo. This is that kind of romantic number, which is expected by Shah Rukh Khan’s fans in his movies.
“Criminal” is the Song written by Kumaar and Vishal Dadlani. It is sung by Akon, Shruti Pathak and Vishal Dadlani. Akon comes back and rocks one more time. Akon has sung this song in his usual style. This is a fast paced dance number. “Criminal” is not a crime related Song. This is about a guy trying to woo his lady love. Even the “remix version” adds value to this track.
“Bhare Naina” is surely a shocker waiting to surprise the audiences. It is written by Panchhi Jalonvi. It is sung by Nandini Shrikar, Vishal Dadlani, and Shekhar Ravjiani. Nandini has changed this track into a semi-classical track, with her performance, which is filled with tragedy. Vishal-Shekhar starts the song with a classical approach, and then brings in a fusion sound with Western elements. The voice lent by the Vocalists adds haunting appeal to this sad track.
“Right By Your Side” is written by Anvita Dutt. This track is sung by Siddharth Coutto. This is a peppy and feel-good track. This “Right By Your Side” is the track about living the life to the fullest and also celebrating an all around bonding, which is overflowing with happiness. Though, it is a good track, it is not well-placed.
“Raftaarein” is a fantastic track. This is sung by Vishal Dadlani, Shekhar Ravjiani. Vishal has written this Song. This track is like homage paid to R.D. Burman. “Raftaarein” is high voltage song, which creates huge impact, when it would be seen on the big screen.
“Jiya Mora Ghabraaye - The Chase” is the song scored for a chase sequence. This is sung by Sukhwinder Singh and Vishal Dadlani. This combination of Sukhwinder Singh and Vishal Dadlani in a fusion mix, gives a trance effect to this track. Anubhav Sinha also makes his debut as a Lyricist through this Song. He is also accompanied by Vishal Dadlani, in penning the Lyrics of it.
Apart from these wonderful tracks, there are 3 other instrumentals. All the instrumentals are with the time duration of nearly 100 seconds each. These musical pieces were much spoken about and were recorded with nearly 200 piece orchestra, and were put together by Vishal-Shekhar in Prague. These instrumentals are truly International in appeal and so good that, they seem to have been composed for Hollywood projects.
"Comes The Light (Theme)" (Instrumental) seems like the perfect piece made for gigantic project like this “Ra.One”. "I'm On (Theme)" (Instrumental) is the 2nd instrumental and "Song Of The End (Theme)" (Instrumental) is the 3rd piece, which denotes the end and gives a sorrow filled feeling. "Song Of The End (Theme)" (Instrumental) is sure to make the Hollywood Composers make a note of this “Ra.One”.
Conclusion:
In totality, the Music of “Ra.One” portrays grandeur, style and class, which is expected for a Super Hero movie like this. This is sure to mesmerize the audiences in the aspect of Audio and the visuals on the big screen. “Ra.One” could easily be termed as one of the grandest Audio of the year.
