Shah Rukh Khan had his ‘Ra.One’ a big success at box-office, but the film was not well received by the critics and movie lovers as the film failed to fulfill their expectations. And, King Khan is out with his next big movie ‘Don 2’ to regain the lost glory, and to a large extent the movie has satisfied all his expectations and that of the critics and the filmgoers too!
Yes, ‘Don 2: The King is Back’ is a big movie that has everything that a good entertainer should offer to a Shah Rukh Khan fan and to an ordinary film buff!
‘Don 2: The King is Back’ is the sequel to the 2006 Shah Rukh Khan film ‘Don: The Chase Begins Again’ that is a remake of 1978 hit film ‘Don’ that starred Amitabh Bachchan in the lead. ‘Don 2: The King is Back’ tells the story of a ‘Don’ (Shah Rukh Khan) from after (in the end of ‘Don: The Chase Begins Again’) he escapes with his girlfriend from the hands of the international law enforcement forces. How the King is again doing the elusive drama with the forces is made with a thrilling plot and emotional drama, and lots of twists and turns.
Shah Rukh Khan is back in the negative role after those cool roles in ‘My Name is Khan’ and ‘Ra.One’. Shah Rukh Khan’s efforts, both mental and physical, are seen in each and every frame of the film, right from his different looks to six-pack physique to 300-feet jump to the dangerous stunt sequences filmed at Germany, Malaysia and Switzerland, that are the highlights of the film.
Priyanka Chopra again plays the girl who is after the don as she played in the original. Lara Dutta and Kunal Kapoor are the additions in this sequel and they fit the bill. Om Puri and Boman Irani have also again come out with an impressive performance.
Farhan Akthar is returning to direction after a gap of 5 years, after he directed ‘Don: The Chase Begins Again’ in 2006, with Shah Rukh Khan. His script and narration is a major plus of the film and the hard work that he has put for this film will speak volumes for years.
Music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is a big strength of the film, especially the background score. Songs too do match the BG work!
Camera by Jason West is awesome! Mr. West has showed all his technical skills in maneuvering the camera. The risky shots are filmed with great difficulty, it is seen in every seen.
Editing by Anand Subaya is definitely worth mentioning.
And, last but not least, are the stunt choreographers. What an effort! You have to watch the film to see their work.
The film is released in both 2D and 3D versions. And, dubbed in Tamil and Telugu also for the south audience!
‘Don 2: The King is Back’ is sure a watchable wholesome entertainer, a must watch!
A ticket purchased at a high cost is worth paying, and the film offers lot more than the value of the ticket cost! Go purchase one to experience the big movie of Mr. Khan!
