Synopsis

The time period of the story of Desi Boyz movie is set in the year 2009. The Financial crisis has affected the whole world. Many countries were affected by this financial meltdown very badly. But, Nick “Hunter” Mathur (John Abraham) and Jerry “Rocco” Patel (Akshay Kumar) does not have any botherations, as they are leading their life comfortably in London.

Earlier, Nick and Jerry were leading a very happy life. As Nick was placed well in an investment banking job, this was possible. Nick enjoyed a very jolly life with good bonus, beautiful Fiancé named Radhika Awasthi, and other comforts. Jerry is not like Nick. He leads his life with the support, which he received from Nick.

Nick’s company stops him from the job in an unceremonious manner, in the name of downsizing. Nick and Jerry lost their smiles from that very day, from when Nick suffered job loss. Moreover, Jerry is being informed by the Social Services that, his Nephew Veer, whose local guardian Jerry would be placed in a foster home, unless and until, he gets a stable job. Hence, these guys are made to look for alternative options to lead their life.

Desi Boyz is basically the movie of two guys, who are pushed to the situation, to do something, which gives them instant gratification. The jobs, which they do, are very bizarre. In a particular situation, they become Male Escorts. The repercussions of the job they do, tears them apart. The aftermaths test everything including their friendship.

Earlier, Akshay Kumar and John Abraham entertained the people through the movie named “Garam Masala”. Now, this duo is back with “Desi Boyz”. Some of the very bothering issues like recession, unemployment and economic crisis are portrayed in this movie.

Due to the above mentioned problems, Akshay Kumar and John Abraham, take-up an alternate job. They both join a male escort agency run by Sanjay Dutt, and turn into Male escorts. This, Desi Boyz take-up the job, in which, they are required to make their female clientele happy.

Desi-Boyz-Hindi-Movie-Review

The first hour of the movie moves very interestingly, with lots of twists and turns, in a very rapid pace. The second half is like watching another different movie.

Just like most of the films, the Screenplay is the culprit here. The efforts to strike balance between drama and fun does not succeed very much. Akshay sequence in the University, is not that much nice. Similarly, the scenes in which, John tries to woo Deepika does not have that crispy factors. The courtroom sequence, featuring Akshay Kumar is very odd. The Climax is not perfect. In general, the second hour has many disorders.

Akshay Kumar has given his usual performance. Rohit Dhawan could have worked in a better manner for the second half. There are some moments of excellence to compensate those faults. Milap Zaveri’s lines are very funny and very crisp. Natrajan Subramaniam’s Cinematography is very good. The Art Direction of this movie is of very high class. Pritam’s Music suits well for the movie. The Choreography by Bosco Martis – Caesar Gonsalves is excellent.

Akshay Kumar is turning out to be an Actor, who handles Comic scenes very nicely. John Abraham’s looks are more striking, in accordance with his performance. Akshay Kumar and John Abraham seem to gel with the characters very perfectly. The friendliness between both of them is very good.

Deepika Padukone shows improvement, in each and every film. Chitrangda looks dashingly hot. But, her characterization is not, as powerful as expected. Sanjay Dutt has given an enjoyable performance in his little Cameo. Anupam Kher presence is not made to be counted. Omi Vaidya surely makes us laugh here and there. Mohnish Bahl has given an ok performance. The Child Artist has done a good job.

To conclude, Desi Boyz is an entertaining movie. It is sure make the Fans smile and keeps them happy, with good Music and enjoyable performances.
