Madhavan and Arya are coming together for the first time for this film ‘Vettai’ written and directed by Linguswamy. The film is about two brothers falling in love with two sisters of a small town in the south of Tamil Nadu.
Madhavan is an honest cop and the carefree younger brother Arya is forced to take a different route in his life. Madhavan marries Sameera and Arya’s romance with Amala 
Paul starts there. The happy story takes a twist and how the lives of the four is changed after this is told in Linguswamy style with lots of entertainment factors including comic scenes and colourful songs.
“After my film ‘Run’ I’m joining director Linguswamy again for this film, after eight years. I see the same hardcore professional in him. We really had a good time in the sets enjoying every moment. Arya was cool and the two girls were bubbly,” says Madhavan.
“Filming of ‘Vettai’ happened in Karaikudi, Kerala and Pondicherry. All the stars cooperated well to the fullest to make the film a wholesome entertainer. Yuvan’s songs are one of the highlights of the film,” says Linguswamy.
Yuvan Shankar Raja has scored the music and Nirav Shah has handled the camera. Anthony is the editor.
The film was to be produced by Dhayanidhi Alagiri’s Cloud Nine Movies but due to certain reasons the producer walked out and Linguswamy took up the project under his own banner Thirupathi Brothers and produced along with his brother Subash Chandra Bose.
And, it was Silambarasan, who was first roped in to play the role of the leading man and Vijay was expected to play the same when Simbhu walked out. Then Madhavan and Arya came in.
Even for the leading ladies, it was Tamannaah, who played the heroine in Linguswamy’s ‘Paiyaa’ was considered for the role, but she could not take up as she had prior commitments and said “Sorry”! Anushka was also approached and for certain reasons she also could not do and later Amala Paul was roped in to play along with Sameera Reddy.
UTV Motion Pictures is distributing the film that is slated for December 23rd release.
