‘Ambuli’ is a Sci-Fi thriller and the first Tamil 3D film made in stereoscopic format.
The story is set in the late 70s in a village called Poomadandhi Puram, where a folklore mystery haunt the people for years and make them keep off from streets after dark. Amudhan and Vendan, two college boys, from the village venture out to investigate the story behind the folklore mystery that their village lives with for years.
Ambuli means Moon. The story is a Moonlight mystery. The problems the youngsters face in their journey to unveil the mystery are told with interesting twists.
Gokul (Vijay TV fame mime artist) plays Ambuli in the film.
R Ajai, P S Srijith, Sanam, Jothisha Ammu, Uma Riaz Khan, Thambi Ramaiah, Kalairani, Jagan, Bosskey and Balasingh in prominent characters.
Actor-director R Parthipan does a cameo, but a pivotal character for the script.
The film is directed by Hari Shankar and Hareesh Narayan, who made 2010 release ‘Or Eravuu’, a Tamil horror.
Music is done by multi-composers – K Venkat Prabhu, Shankar, C S Sam, Sathish and Mervin.
Sathish G has handled the camera and editing by Hari Shankar.
KTVR Creative Reels of Loganathan has produced the film that is releasing on 17 February, 2012.
