Veteran Directors honour Bharathiraja!

‘Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum’ is ‘Iyakunar Imayam’ Bharathiraja’s big film that he is making now as his life-time project. The inauguration and the first day shoot of the film were held at the director’s native village Allinagaram in Theni with the presence of Tamil cinema’s master directors at the venue.
Veteran directors K Balachander, Balu Mahendra, Mani Ratnam and K Bhagyaraj who had come to honour ‘Iyakunar Imayam’ also praised the immense talents and his contribution to Tamil cinema. ‘Iyakkunar Sigaram’ K Balachander while speaking at the occasion said, “I’m the first admirer of Bharathiraja. After watching his first film ’16 Vayathinilae’ I wrote a letter to him appreciating his master craft!” And, Balu Mahendra wished the trendsetter a 56 more films to reach the century in his life. “No film made in the last 30 years has come without the influence of Bharathiraja’s film. Even, the future films also will not be made without a touch of his films”, said Mani Ratnam. And, K Bhagyaraj paid his tributes to his Guru by saying, “I have two places as my birthplace, one is Coimbatore and the other one is this village, where I started my film career as an assistant under Bharathiraja”. Other prominent faces who attended the event are directors Agathiyan, Balaji Sakthivel, Sasi, Ponvannan, Ameer, lyricist Vairamuthu, actresses Radha, Kushboo, ‘Ko’ Karthiga, Iniya (of ‘Vaagai Sooda Va’ fame) and music director G V Prakash Kumar.
‘Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum’ has director Ameer, Karthiga and Iniya in lead roles and G V Prakash Kumar to compose music for the film.
