Veteran Bharathanatyam Guru Sarasa is Dead!

J Sarasa, a Bharathanatyam exponent and guru died yesterday (January 2nd) due to cardiac arrest. She was 78.
Sarasa took dance classes to the present Chief Minister when she was young and learning Bharathanatyam. Other famous personalities who undertook classes with Sarasa are Kamal Hassan, Shobana, writer Sivashankari and choreographer Raghuram.
Legendary Sarasa was conferred with many awards including Kalaimamani and Sangeeth Natak Academy award. She was the first female Nattuvanar in Tamil Nadu.
