Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Thalapathi’ Remade in Bollywood

Superstar Rajinikanths_Thalapathi_Remade_in_BollywoodThe 1991 made super duper hit film ‘Thalapathy’ starring Rajinikanth and Mammootty in the lead and directed by renowned director Mani Ratnam is now being made in Bollywood as a remake film.

Bharat Shah has bought the remake rights from Mani Ratnam and the film will be directed by Puja Jatinder Bedi, who directed the films ‘Mangal Pandey’, ‘The Myth’ and ‘Saathiya’. It was Bharat Shah who bought ‘Alaipayuthey’ rights from Mani Ratnam and remade as ‘Saathiya’ coproducing it with Mani and Yash Chopra. It is very rare that Mani Ratnam gets his films remade as he always makes his films a multilingual that is also released in Hindi. ‘Thalapathy’ is the second that is sold out for a remake after ‘Saathiya’.

Bharat Shah says he will make the film making some alterations in the original to suit the present generation but will keep the story and characters intact. The Hindi film will go on floors next year after Puja finishes ‘Ghost’ that she is currently directing.
