‘Nanban’, the First Film to get Tax Exemption!

The previous DMK Government was granting Tax exemption to all Tamil films that had titles in Tamil. After the announcement of this concession almost all the Tamil films were benefited with having Tamil titles. But, after assuming office the new Government under Chief Minister Jayalalithaa brought amendments to the previous Government’s order and announced that only ‘U’ Certified films having Tamil names will be given the Tax exemption and it was also implemented.
After the announcement of the recent order ‘Nanban’ has become the first film to get this 30% Entertainment Tax exemption from the Government of Tamil Nadu.
‘Nanban’ featuring Vijay, Jiiva, Srikanth, Ileana, Sathyaraj, Sathyan and S J Suryah was released on 12 January this year and successfully running to packed halls all over the world. The film is directed by Shankar. Music is by Harris Jayaraj and the film is produced by Gemini Film Circuit.
