He was ruling the roost in Tamil cinema during the 70s, 80s and early 90s, and never stopped composing the finest tunes even after that. Though he reduced getting involved in films the Maestro was always there in the music industry making his presence felt. But, on the birth of this New Year the ‘Raja’ of Music is back to films music with a bang!
Yes, the New Year for ‘Isaignani’ is full with many big projects, giving a tough competition to the young musicians. Prakash Raj’s Tamil directorial debut ‘Dhoni’ is the film that Ilayaraja is presently busy with and next is Lakshmi Manchu’s ‘Gundello Godari’. Kodi Ramakrishna directed ‘Baba Sathya Sai’ is another big film that ‘Isaignani’ is working for. Veteran actor Vinu Chakravarthy is back to direction with his new film ‘Veli Kathaan’ for which Ilayaraja is scoring the music. “’Isaignani’ is one of the few persons I respect and feel comfort to work with.
Ilayaraja is just completed his Live-in Concert during the end of last year. He also composed music for short films including ‘Amma’, ‘Pachchai Kudai’ and ‘Mudhalvar Mahatma’. The Maestro is also scoring music for films ‘Thandavakone’ and ‘Sengathu Bhoomiyile’.
