Shankar directed Vijay’s ‘Nanban’ and Linguswamy’s ‘Vettai’ had a grand release during Pongal and the film also received overwhelming response for a week.
What is the position of the film now?
Industry sources say that these films had a big start and ran well for a week but now the films have slowed down at the box office. Even the overseas collection have come down says a source in the industry trade.
“It is very common that films now get slowing down at Box-office week after its release. Because the first week is the crucial time that the film does the overwhelming collection in any big actor’s movie. Running for 50 days and beyond is rarest of rare things in Indian cinema, at least for Tamil cinema. So, slowing down of these big films – ‘Nanban’ and ‘Vettai’ is not a big issue of concern. I would say the films have made considerable collections at box-office,” says the source.
