Dhanush’s ‘Aadukalam’ Wins Best Film Award, Again!

aadukalam-movieVetrimaaran directed and Dhanush starring film ‘Aadukalam’ wins the Best Film Award in the competition among Tamil films that were screened in the recently concluded 9th Chennai International Film Festival here in Chennai.

The 9th Chennai International Film Festival came to a close yesterday with the valedictory function held last evening at the Woodlands theatre in the presence of celebrities and large audience gathered at the venue. Hollywood filmmaker Ashok Amritraj was the chief guest who awarded the best Tamil feature film award to film ‘Aadukalam’ in the function.

Ashok Amritraj stressed the need for giving attention to writers and respect should be given to them along with directors and actors of the film.

Director Vetrimaaran was rewarded with a cash prize of Rs. 2 Lakh and the producer of the film with Rs. 1 Lakh for making this successful film. Veteran director K Balachander handed over the reward to Vetrimaaran. Director Sargunam’s period drama ‘Vaagai Sooda Vaa’ was awarded the second best film.

The 9-day (December 14 – 22) long film festival had 154 films shown from 45 countries screened at 5 cinema halls of Woodlands, Woodlands Symphony, South Indian Film Chamber Theatre, Sathyam and Inox in Chennai.
