The Tamil Film Producers’ Council (TFPC) has come out with an important and sensitive decision that big budgeted Tamil films will be released only on festival days to enable the small budget films to get good number of theatres to see their release without any problem.
This news came from the mouth of the Vice-President of TFPC, producer T Siva of Amma Creations, when he took the dais at the audio launch of the film ‘Attakathi’ yesterday (09.01.12). “Big Tamil films will be released only on the festival days of Pongal, Tamil New Year – 14 April, May 1 and Deepavali. This is to help the small films to get theatres for their release. We will decide the criteria for categorizing the films in the meeting of the council that will held soon,” Siva said.
Already sharp reactions have come from various quarters in the industry. Small producers have welcomed the announcement of the TFPC!
